Chinese Gold Thread Embroidery Panel, 19th Century
A Chinese framed embroidery panel with gold thread dating from the 19th century. The embroidery depicts birds on branches with flowers and butterflies.
Dimensions are: 11 inches tall X 10 inches wide, 27.9 cm X 25.4 cm, while the frame measures 11 7/8 inches tall X 11 1/4 inches wide, 30.2 cm X 28.6 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is significant wear and fading. There are tears to the corners and top edge.
Provenance: From Ms. Farrow in Ventura, California. Ms. Farrow's aunt was a close friend with Chinese writer "Princess" Der Ling until she was killed. These items were sold to Ms. Farrow's aunt in the 1930s.
