Chinese Hardwood Box with Jade Plaque, 19th Century
A Chinese quatrefoil hardwood box with a jade plaque lid dating from the 19th century. The bottom of the box is marked "CHINA." The jade is carved with a landscape scene featuring two figures, a pine tree, and a pagoda.
Dimensions are: 4 1/4 inches tall X 2 5/8 inches wide, 10.8 cm X 6.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is chipping to the rim of the jade, and two holes have been drilled into the lip of the jade lid.
Provenance: From a private Larchmont, New York collection.
