A Chinese hardwood ruyi wand with white jade insets dating to the Ming dynasty. Each white jade inset features a crane among lotuses.
Dimensions: 17 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches wide; 43.2 cm tall X 10.8 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Some chipping and cracking where the head is inset, otherwise good condition.
Provenance: From Mr. Zaun’s collection in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Zaun lived in Taiwan with his wife in 1967-68 and began his interest in Chinese history and artifacts there. This item was purchased from Chicago Art Galleries in Chicago, Illinois.
