Chinese Hardwood Table Screen with Marble, 19th Century
A Chinese hardwood table screen with a "dream stone" marble panel dating from the 19th century. The marble depicts a landscape scene. The screen's stand is decorated with carved ruyi motifs.
Dimensions are: the marble measures 16 inches tall X 9 1/2 inches wide, 40.6 cm X 24.1 cm, while the whole stand measures 28 1/2 inches tall X 17 1/4 inches wide, 72.4 cm X 43.8 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are significant abrasions to the surface of the marble. There are areas of splitting to the wood as well as separation of the seams.
Provenance: From Mr. Choi in New Jersey, acquired over 30 years ago.
