Chinese Inside-Painted Snuff Bottle by Dong Xue

A Chinese inside painted glass snuff bottle by Dong Xue. The snuff bottle has an amethyst stopper with a spoon. The snuff bottle has an inscription on each side with 2 seals on 1 side and 1 on the other. The snuff bottle depicts a crane beneath a willow tree on 1 side and a pair of birds on a branch on the other.

Dimensions are: 2 1/8 inches tall X 2 inches wide, 5.40 cm X 5.08 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Small chips to the stopper and a chip to the interior of the mouth of the snuff bottle.

Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
