Chinese Jade Carved Elephant, Ming
A Chinese white and black jade carving dating to the Ming dynasty. The carving depicts an elephant holding a flower. The elephant is covered with a cloth and is decorated with ruyi, flowers, Qin stone mirrors, bats, a pair of fish, and a Greek key border. It is accompanied by a wooden stand.
Dimensions are: 4 in. tall X 5 in. wide; 10.2 cm tall X 12.7 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Overall good condition.
Provenance: From Mr. Oberset in Seattle, Washington. Acquired in Hong Kong prior to the 1980s.
