Chinese Jade Carved Toggle, Song Dynasty

宋代或更早玉螭龍勒子A Chinese jade carved cylindrical toggle dating from the Song dynasty or possibly even earlier. The toggle is also carved with a mythical beast.

Dimensions are: 2 1/2 inches tall X 5/8 inches diameter. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Age appropriate wear.

Provenance: From the estate of Mr. Kwok Woon Kun, formerly a shareholder of Wing On Company, a well-known department store group in Hong Kong and Shanghai. This collection was collected in Hong Kong prior to Mr. Kwok's death in 1969. His collection was shipped to Canada in 1981 and was inherited by Mr. Kwok's daughter and grandson.
