Chinese Jade Snuff Bottle Carved with a Crane, 19th
A Chinese carved jade snuff bottle dating from the 19th century with a glass stopper with a spoon in the shape of a hand. One side of the bottle depicts a crane beneath a pine tree, and the other side depicts a house beneath a flowering tree. The scenes are flanked by a pair of guardian lion handles with engaged rings. Surrounding everything are incised motifs of orchids and bamboo.
Dimensions are: 2 1/4 inches tall X 1 3/4 inches wide, 5.7 cm X 4.4 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are a few minuscule chips, but it is in overall good condition.
Provenance: From a private New York City collection.
