Chinese Lapis Lid Censer, 18th Century
十八世紀 青金石蓋爐 A Chinese lapis lazuli lidded censer dating from the 18th century. The lid's band features pairs of stylized Chilong, while the body has 2 mythical bird handles and a band featuring pairs of stylized Chilong as well.
Dimensions are: 4 3/4 inches tall X 6 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: It is in good condition.
Provenance: From a New Orleans, LA estate. A similar lapis carved censer from the Qing Dynasty, is illustrated in _Zhong Guo Yu Qi Quan Ji_, Vol.6, Hebei: Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House, 1993, pl. 238 (fig. 1).
