Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Ewer

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A lovely pottery ewer with a piriform body, a squat foot, a thick neck, a sharply rising spout, and a curved handle arching off the verso. The entire vessel is enveloped in layers of light green glaze that create a delicate, natural presentation. Size: 3.8" W x 5.5" H (9.7 cm x 14 cm)

Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired 1970 to 2000

Condition Report: Small chip to lower body, with light abrasions and nicks to remaining surfaces, wear and some darkening to glaze in scattered areas, and areas of roughness along foot and lower body, otherwise intact and very good. Great remains of glaze pigment and wonderfully smooth surfaces throughout. Old inventory label beneath foot.
