Chinese Neolithic Greenstone Discs w/ Box (3 pcs)

East Asia, China, Neolithic Period, Liangzhu culture, ca. 3400 to 2250 BCE. An impressive set of three hand-carved greenstone discs from Neolithic China, all intricately incised with a repeated pattern of risen volute-motifs. Enveloped in hues of pale sage and light grey, each presents a characteristically round form with a wide central aperture. These remarkable rings have been carved to fit into one another perfectly. They are accompanied by a lovely box exhibiting a yellow silk-lined interior and a navy cloth exterior decorated with pale blue and grey embroidery of zoomorphs surrounded by floral motifs. Size of box: 7.125" L x 7" W x 1.25" H (18.1 cm x 17.8 cm x 3.2 cm); Size of largest: 5" in diameter (12.7 cm)

Condition Report: Largest repaired from four pieces with break lines visible and some minor loss along fissures. Very light softening of detail and minor abraded area on smallest. Otherwise, excellent with lovely earthen deposits throughout.
