East Asia, China, Neolithic period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. A squat light-orange terracotta drinking cup with a flat base, broad midsection, gently sloping walls, a deep interior cavity, a thin flared rim, and a single applied strap handle joining body to rim. Four notched grooves detail the top of the handle, while a thinly-incised circular line with dotted grooves embellishes the body. Size: 3.5" H (8.9 cm).
