Chinese Neolithic Pottery Twin-Handled Urn

East Asia, China, Neolithic period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. A large hand-built terracotta vessel with a flat base, bulbous body with tapering shoulders, wide mouth, flared rim, and two applied strap handles joining rim to shoulder. Both the deep interior cavity and the exterior surfaces display a bright light-orange color, and there are areas of light- and dark-gray age spots across all areas. Size: 9.5" H (24.1 cm).

Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired in the 1980s to 1990s
