Chinese Republic Hardwood Carving Daoist Immortal
An intricately carved figure of an immortal with basket, purse and pipe that is so detailed with a free-flowing robe, beard, and hair that has movement and grace. The wood is heavy, dark and fine grained.
MEASUREMENTS
12” (30.5 cm) tall x 4 ¼” (10.8 cm) wide x 3” (7.6 cm) deep. Weighs 1 lb 5.5 oz (610 g)
CONDITION
The left foot is broken midway and has a pin to hold it on. There is a very tiny chip on the right side of the braid. There is a piece missing on one side of the belt near the end. The carving has a rich look with an aged patina.
