Chinese Scholar's Table, Possibly Zitan, 19th Century
A Chinese scholar's table dating from the 19th century. It is short, long, and rectangular with a skirt carved with taotie mask designs.
Dimensions are: 3 3/4 inches tall X 23 5/8 inches wide X 7 7/8 deep, 9.5 cm X 60 cm X 20 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is moisture staining to the top and bottom surfaces. There are numerous areas of repairs to each foot, the bottom edge of the skirt, and along splits in the tabletop. Minor chipping throughout.
Provenance: From a private New Jersey musician's collection. Purchased in Hong Kong in the 1970s. Comes with a sticker from the East Corner Company in New York City.
