Chinese Silk Damask Jacket and Brocade Robe
Late Qing Dynasty to Republic period
Comprising: First is a dark blue silk brocade informal robe woven with circular medallions and floral motifs, with standing collar, decorative edging and bright blue lining; second is a pale blue silk damask women's jacket woven with scattered auspicious motifs amid scrolling clouds, with wide sleeves an overlapping front secured by loop and toggle fastenings, and dark brown borders to the neckline, opening and hem.
Size of the dark blue robe height: 60 in. width: 41 in; the light blue jacket: height: 38 in, width 60 in.
Condition: Both garments exhibit creasing and surface wear consistent with age and use. The pale blue jacket has scattered discoloration and brownish staining to the left front with small holes and wear to the dark border. The dark blue robe shows fading and wear to the fabric and edging. Possibly repairs and alternations.
