Chinese Style Signed Carved Soapstone Monkey

This Chinese-style signed soapstone carving features a central bowl flanked by a monkey and a bird nestled in a rocky landscape. The multi-colored stone displays natural hues of cream, tan, and rouge, set atop a carved and painted floral wooden base. A metal pipe on the reverse suggests it may have once functioned as a component of a larger decorative object or lamp.

Condition
Good condition with visible chips, significant wear to the painted base, and age-related surface abrasions. The soapstone carving shows various losses particularly around the edges of the mountainous background. There is a metal tube protruding from the back that appears to be a later addition or part of a missing component.
