Chinese Tang Dynasty Bronze Mirror
East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. A beautiful cast-bronze mirror of a minimalist discoid form with a frontal recess bearing a perforated suspension nodule. The planar verso was at one time polished with a high luster to achieve a reflective surface and remains of said polishing can still be seen through thick layers of mottled patina.
