Chinese Tang Style Tomb Vessel

20th century AD. A Tang-style representation of five musicians mounted on a Bactrian camel, the ringleader standing in the center and around him, arranged two by two, four characters playing the four-stringed pipe, the gong, the flute and the paiban; camel decorated with volutes and vegetal ornaments all over the body, with a blanket embroidered with a woven dragon. During the Tang dynasty, the Chinese music, for the first time, came into contact with foreign music; at court Korean, Indian and Persian music and dances were much appreciated.
