Chinese Toggle with Jade Plaque, Ming
A Chinese toggle dating from the Ming dynasty. The toggle features a Buddhist knot, jade ring, and small ruyi-shaped jade plaque engraving of a Buddha and Guanyin.
Dimensions are: the plaque measures 1 1/8 inches tall X 7/8 inches wide, 2.9 cm tall X 2.2 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Good condition.
Provenance: From Mrs. Helen Ling in Washington DC area, collected in Singapore prior to the 1980s. Mrs. Ling owned an antique shop in Shanghai in the 1950s, and was the first antique dealer selling to Zuellig brothers, owners of Meiyintang Collection. She also introduced Edward T. Chow to Zuellig family.
