Chinese White Jade Teapot, Ming Dynasty
A Chinese carved white jade teapot dating from the Ming dynasty. The lid is carved with a beast and a ruyi band, while the teapot is carved with lotuses around the body.
Dimensions are: 2 1/2 inches tall X 3 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The handle has been repaired.
Provenance: From Mr. & Mrs. Yuen in Minnesota. Mrs. Yuen's father, Chen Kangjue, operated an antiques shop in Yan'an Road, Shanghai from 1940 to 1966. This collection was returned to Mr. Chen Kangjue and then brought back to the United States with his descendants 30 years ago.
