Chippendale mahogany wing chair, Boston, circa 1780. Serpentine crest and sides above scrolled arms. Strait front on cabriole legs with compact ball and claw feet with turned and blocked stretchers. Floral upholstery. Underside of stretchers inscribed with history “Jonas C. March and Sally Wingate, married 1795 / Jonas Died in this Chair Rochester N.H.” Ex Walton, Feb. 22, 1982, receipt accompanies lot. 48” height 32” width 31” depth Good condition, typical wear and abrasion to legs and feet, abrasions to toes and one knee.
