Description: a sugar and cream set manufactured by As Bonebakker & Zoon.

Adrianus Bonebakker makes his son Jacques Antoine (1798-1868) co-director of his company. They settle in a building on the corner of Herengracht/Leidsestraat. In 1824 Adrianus Bonebakker died and in 1826 master silversmith Dirk Lodewijk Bennewitz also died. Jacques Antoine subsequently became sole director of the company now known as As Bonebakker & Zoon.

In the following years, As Bonebakker & Zoon started a collaboration with silversmith Theodorus Gerardus Bentvelt (1782 -1853) . This grandmaster is already working on the Herengracht and will remain employed by As Bonebakker & Zn for the rest of his life. In the 1840s, Bentvelt carried out several assignments for As Bonebakker & Zn. , not only in silver, but also in gold.

In 1830, Bonebakker received another royal commission. The city of Amsterdam commissions the making of a 94-piece silver service for the wedding of Princess Marianne, daughter and favorite of King William I, and Frederik Hendrik Albert, Prince of Prussia.
The tableware is extensively documented in the Bonebakker archives and the price of 18,837 guilders was a huge amount at the time. It was not customary to send counter gifts, but Princess Marianne of Orange Nassau had a painted portrait of herself sent to the capital. The painting will be placed next to the portrait of her father in the Council Chamber.
