Christian Riese Lassen, Original Jewels of Maui

Christian Riese Lassen (b-1949, Maui, Hawaii). This is the original circular diptych painting, "Jewels of Maui I" and "Jewels of Maui II", 1987. The scene above depicts Lahaina town under a beautiful moon rise. The scene below depicts the moonlight illuminating the undersea off Lahaina. Oil on panel, each measuring 13.5" diameter. The Lahaina town sky is dotted with tiny diamonds to depict the stars. A gold medallion with inset diamond is mounted just beneath the bottom painting. Both artist signed. The paintings are exceptionally framed and mounted under plexiglass in a shadow box type frame with brass plaque identifying the artist and the title. Measures 50" x 34" x 4" deep.
INCLUDES: A photograph of the artist standing with this original painting and letters handwritten and typewritten by Christian Riese Lassen discussing the painting and making note of Lahaina as his hometown and "in fact, my first Mercedes (red) sits in front of the Pioneer Inn" (depicted in the top painting). Also included is the hardcover book "The Art of Lassen" Copyright 1993. In the book these paintings are plates 36 and 37.
