Christien Meindertsma - Thomas Eyck - Lamp - Flax Lamp 10 meter, t.e. 073

[ translate ]

Christien Meindertsma's flax light 10 meters combines her contemporary handwriting in perfect harmony with the traditional Dutch 16th-century rope industry. By analysing the history of this craft, she has reduced the rope to the original Dutch material: flax. With the help of flax, the filaments are spun into flax yarns, after which they are turned into strands. Meindertsma's fresh and innovative approach to the very old technique results in this lamp made of very supple rope, among others. By tying the rope you can determine the shape of the lamp yourself The flax lamp is included in the permanent collection of Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen, among others Christien Meindertsma won the Dutch Design Award in 2016. She quickly rose to fame with her 2007 book PIG 05049. This contains an extensive collection of photographs that depict a stunning range of products for which different parts of a single pig were used in the production process. With her designs Christien Meindertsma wants people to regain insight into production processes that are often very far from our modern, industrialized world. Her work has been included in many museums worldwide #contemporarydutchdesign
