Christien Meindertsma - Thomas Eyck - Lamp - t.e. 075, Flax lamp with loop, 10 metres

Christien Meindersma's lamp with loop is no less than 10 meters long and combines her contemporary signature in perfect harmony with the traditional Dutch 16th century rope industry. By analysing the history of this craft, she has reduced the rope to the original Dutch material: flax. With the help of flax, the filaments are spun into flax yarns, after which they are turned into strands. Meindertsma's fresh and innovative approach to this very old technique resulted in this lamp, among others. The flax lamp is part of the permanent collection of Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen, among others
