Christie's Pair Large Qing Dynasty Chinese Famille Noire Enamel over Biscuit Porcelain 4 Sided Vases, each side with alternating flowering Hawthorn Branches and flowering Tree Peony Branches with birds and rocks. Both necks and foot rims polished and flattened, possibly to receive gilt bronze mounts; 1 neck with cracks re-stuck and a restored chip or firing crack to 1 bottom corner. Height 19 inches (48.2 cm.). Provenance: Christie's New York, each with their label for Lot 170 from an unspecified sale. The base of 1 vase with an old label for "C. Leviele / Maker and Repairer / Fans, Shell & Bric-a-Brac / 23 West 36th Street, New York, NY" probably responsible for the repairs to the neck and base edge.
