Nevinson', 110 x 81.5 cm Provenance: Phillips, London, 23rd September 1997, lot 146; Laporte, PLC; Sotheby's, London, 16th February 2005, lot 111, Roseberys, London, 5th September 2017, lot 904, where acquired by the present owner Note: Hannen Swaffer (1879-1962) was a journalist and drama critic. With a flamboyant personality and convictions, he boasted of having been banned from twelve of the forty-one theatres in London's West End. He is a sitter in 19 portraits in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London.
