Chuck studied figure painting and drawing under Marbury Brown at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. He moved to New York in 1980 where he provided illustrations for the New York Times and Fortune Magazine, while continuing painting his figural works. After a sojourn to Mexico, Bowdish returned to New York in 1991 and now maintains a studio in Brooklyn.
