unsigned, stretcher with numerical stencils and various partial labels, including an auction one with the consignor "Mulliken".

Provenance: Collection of Felix Astoin, France/New York, 1883; Collection of the late Alfred H. Mulliken (Together with Property of John H. Mulliken), Anderson Galleries, New York, April 12-13, 1933, lot 162, sold as a portrait of "Dame van Montfoort" by a follower of Pieter van Mierevelt.
Condition Report: Painting exhibits signs of past restoration; it has been relined, cleaned, revarnished and inpainted. Skinning (overcleaning) is present to parts of the figure and background in the upper right quadrant. Light inpainting was found in the the hands, to the left proper sleeve, and "touch-up" traces (some of which were removed when cleaned) to the figure's face, breast and clavicle. Canvas has light stretcher lines to the top and right. Horizontal seam line from original canvas is visible and slightly raised in the lower third part of the painting. Some faint craquelure is scattered throughout, and there is minor cockling/slackening of canvas. Frame is structurallly sound and intact, but exhibits past repairs and has minor scattered nicks and abrasions. Condition is commensurate with age and material
