Citroën - XM V6 24s Multimedia Torrente - 1998

[ translate ]

XM Torrente, with black roof. The undercarriage is free of corrosion and very healthy, 4 new Michelin tyres, fully repainted, the MOT is OK and expires on 15. 09. 2022: see the last photos showing the last 3 MOT reports from 2016, 2018, 2020. The keyboard screen was remanufactured because, unfortunately, if you want to buy an XM Multimedia, you will be disappointed, because you will not find any trace of the computer equipment, apart from the GPS at the front. To avoid any problems, Citroën removed the screen, keyboard, central unit, in short everything that made it a connected car. That said, it's not really a bad thing as a smartphone today is better than the poor quality Windows 98 PC it was equipped with at the time. But it could have added a certain charm to a collection. However, the aviation tablets remain. The history of XM Multimedia began at the end of 1997. Following the positive reception of the Citroën Xsara Intel, Citroën had the idea of providing VIP vehicles for the 1998 World Cup. In partnership with several companies, the XM Multimedia project came to life with the objective of offering the most modern technologies in a vehicle. It was at the factory in Rennes that this communication operation came to life through the assembly of the XM Multimedia. Only 52 units were assembled, not without difficulty in integrating the computer elements for which no connections had been planned. The XMs were removed from the assembly line and then disassembled so that the specific wiring could be inserted. The project encountered so many setbacks that Citroën was unable to make the XMs available for the 1998 World Cup as originally planned. Despite this, a few cars were loaned to VIPs and the vehicle was exhibited at the Paris Motor Show and then at the Geneva Motor Show before touring the dealerships, trade shows and fairs for a year. After 10 months on the road, all of the XM Multimedia vehicles were returned to the PSA factory in Rennes where Citroën removed the multimedia components to avoid any warranty problems when the XMs were resold to consumers through the dealership network. Because these ultra special XMs were then sold, for the most part by the Félix Faure dealership in Paris.
