[ translate ]

Georges Braque
1882 - 1963
Citrons

signed G Braque and dated 39 (lower right)
oil on canvas
19.1 by 32.4cm., 7½ by 12¾in.
Framed: 39 by 52.5cm., 15⅜ by 20⅝in.
Painted in 1939.

Condition Report:
The canvas is not lined. There is a thick varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate but there do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible under UV light. The canvas is slightly undulated in places. There is some minor abrasion to parts of all four extreme edges, most prominently at the corners, particularly the upper left corner where the canvas is slightly worn through. There is a small paint loss at the centre of the right edge, a minuscule one to the upper lemon leaves and a small protrusion to the right side of the left-hand lemon. There is a pin-sized hole at the centre of the upper edge and a fine surface scratch above the right-hand lemon. This work is in overall good condition.

Provenance:
Paul Rosenberg & Co., New York
