Civil War Soldiers Smoking and Drinking Period Portrait
CDV

A carte-de-visite photograph of three Civil War soldiers enjoying a leisure activity of smoking and drinking. Measuring 2.5" x 4.5", n.p., n.d. [ca. 1860s]. Unknown photographer, blank verso, no backstamp, unsigned. Expected wear includes staining center right, scattered foxing, corner wear, edge toning and soiling verso, and intermittent handling marks. Overall, very good.

Even though the image is simplistic in its staging it is an image of inspiration due its rare scenery, for the Civil War was the bloodiest in American history, and the action to leisurely drink and smoke implies a better world.
