Classic South Bay Scooter
Classic South Bay Scooter attributed to Benjamin Hallock of Center Moriches, L.I. This is an original scooter with sails, Lee boards and accessories, (original mast missing). The hull is still all wood with no fiberglass. The cedar decking is varnished with green painted oar locks and deck rails. The Lee boards and rudder appear to have been later replacements. The length is around 14' 9'' with a beam of 3' 6 or 7''. It appears that this scooter was used more for sailing or ice boating then hunting. Found in a garage, it is in surprisingly good condition; ready for refinishing.
