Classical Style Parcel Gilt Walnut Pedestal, 19th c., the moulded top over a frieze with a garland of fruit and leaves, to fluted/stop fluted stiles, on a leaf and berry moulded blocked base, H.- 47 in., W.- 19 in., D.- 17 1/2 in.
Condition Report: Structurally sound. In overall fair/good condition. Appears to be from the fourth quarter 19th century, having an older mellow finish with some finish losses and abrasions to the top from use. The back of the pedestal is open, stabilized by plywood board. There are minor shrinkages with minor separations on both front corners. Scattered gilt losses. Possible touch up. Proper left side base bottom with five-inch shrinkage. Overall minor chips, nicks, marks, minor losses to carved elements, indentations, and imperfections all consistent with age and use. Usable attractive example of good scale.
