Signature:Claude Monet

Description:A Luminous Venetian Waterscape Depicting The Church And Campanile Of San Giorgio Maggiore Rising Beyond The Lagoon. The Monumental Architectural Complex Occupies The Middle Distance, Its Pale Facade, Dome, And Slender Bell Tower Emerging Through A Radiant Atmosphere Of Yellow, Pink, Lavender, And Pale Blue. Several Gondolas And Small Boats Traverse The Foreground Water, Introducing Dark Linear Accents Against The Shimmering Surface. The Lagoon Is Constructed Through Layered Horizontal Strokes Of Blue, Violet, Rose, Turquoise, And Reflected Gold, While The Architecture Is Softened By Atmospheric Haze And Changing Light. The Broad Sky And Water Merge Through Closely Related Tonal Passages, Giving The Entire Composition A Suspended, Almost Weightless Quality Centered On Reflection And Luminosity.

Historical Significance:Venice Became An Important Subject During The Final Phase Of Claude Monet'S Career Following His Stay There In 1908. San Giorgio Maggiore, Viewed Across The Lagoon, Provided Monet With A Recurring Architectural Motif Through Which He Explored Variations Of Light, Mist, Reflection, And Changing Atmospheric Conditions. Rather Than Emphasizing Precise Architectural Description, These Venetian Compositions Dissolve Buildings And Water Into Color, Creating A Visual Continuity Between Solid Form And Surrounding Atmosphere. The Present Composition Reflects This Celebrated Late-Impressionist Approach Through Its Recognizable Venetian Landmark, Shimmering Lagoon, And Intensely Luminous Palette.

Valuation:Venetian Subjects Associated With Monet'S Late Work Remain Especially Sought After For Their Distinctive Combination Of Recognizable Architecture, Atmospheric Color, And Reflected Light. Views Of San Giorgio Maggiore Are Among The Most Identifiable Motifs Connected With His Venice Period. The Lower-Left Signature And Date, Reverse Galerie Daniel Malingue And Galerie Max Kaganovitch Labels, Substantial Framed Presentation, And Close Correspondence Between The Documented Subject And Visible Composition Contribute To The Work'S Cataloging And Collecting Interest.

Estimate:Estimate: $7,0000 - $10,0000
