“Handle for you” is a collection of beautiful and functional mobility aids, helpful during times of illness. Such objects are often visually ugly and make the home environment look more like a hospital than a welcoming, comfortable place, the 'protected space' our house should be. The bookcase, for instance, also becomes a handle; the handles are curious objects, pleasant to look at which perfectly blend in with the furnishing accessories. The “Handle for you” items do not hide but expose, instead. The “Handle for you” bookcases are made by “Proma Interni” with MDF wood worked in a compact block lacquered with textured opaque paint. The products up for auction today are part of the "Secondo Nome: Huntington" exhibition, promoted by the Huntington non-profit Association - displayed for the first time in June 2017 at the Milan Triennale. The products line is the result of a project that summoned designers of all ages, some young and unknown, others well established, to deal with and unknown pathology such as Huntington, getting involved to reflect together on this disease, looking away from the stereotypes, isolation and silence that too often still surround Huntington disease today. The design has approached the Huntington world with sensitivity, proposing objects with significant emotional, symbolic and functional repercussions, capable of communicating with the everyday life of people who have Huntington's disease. These objects are attempts at autonomy and claims of joy; stories of care and love, losses and conquests, fears and relief, like Alessandro Guerriero's "A Tutto Cuore, and Claudio Larcher's "Handle for you. " The purchase of these products will contribute to supporting the activities of Huntington Onlus, committed daily to support families affected by the disease to make sure they do not feel alone, to spread awareness about a little-known disease and create a network of knowledge, experiences and skills that can increase good practices in its management.
