Coburn's first book, followed by a similar volume on New York the next year. Coburn made all of the gravures himself from the etching of the plates through the pulling of proofs, then supervising the entire print run. "A member of the Photo-Secession...and friend of the Cubists, Vorticists, and Imagists, Coburn had one foot in the nineteenth century and one foot in the twentieth. Lacking the plates of Westminster Abbey; St. Paul's From the River; and Wapping.
Condition Report: Some rubbing to covers, half-title & two blank leaves detached at front, perforated stamp of the Free Library of Philadelphia to title page rubberstamp at bottom of list of plates; lacking 3 plates, another with lower right corner chipped; remaining plates in quite nice condition. Sold with all faults.
