Cognac Barbier. 1898.
With soft pastels and mint green, Antoni Utrillo depicts a trio of bourgeoisie Spaniards enjoying a glass of Cognac Barbier. At the time of this poster's creation, the liqueur was available "in all establishments," though the company had little impact on the history of alcohol, as hardly anything is known about it. At any rate, the Art Nouveau design and Victorian fashions are historically fascinating.
