Title: Collar Box with Gutta Percha Lid mark Scovill Mfg. Co. circa 1850
Provenance: Antique collar box with a gutta percha -- thermoplastic -- lid.; I listed this under "photographic," because the box is made by Scovill Mfg. Co., which from 1849 to 1889 manufactured photographic supplies in New York, and because the thermoplastic / gutta percha lid is the material used on many Union Cases used to house daguerrotypes/ambrotypes/tintypes.; The lid has a lovely scene of a stag and doe in a forest clearing. This same scene is also seen on pressed glass of the same period.; The box is all original, with original hinges and latch. The latch still works.; Impressed mark on the bottom, as shown in the photos.; Very good condition, with wear to the finish, minor fritting to the edge of the gutta percha lid, and looseness in the hinges.; Measures about 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 3 1/4.

Domestic: Flat-rate of $18.00 to anywhere within the contiguous U.S.
