in various woods, including some probably [huanghuali], including tall urn stand with carved skirt, scrolled legs, carved disk stretcher; low urn stand with finely carved skirt with calligraphic inscription at bottom; brush stand with carved calligraphic inscriptions; square form urn stand with marble inset; other various stands and lids, some with openwork carving, approximately 15 pieces total; largest 6 x 7-1/2 in. (capable of holding urn with 6-1/4 inch base) - Provenance: Collected in Shanghai, China prior to 1902 by Frederick and Margaret Haskell; By descent in family to Frances Arnold; Private Collection, Newnan, Georgia - Note:ÿObjects from this personal collection were acquired in Shanghai, China between the years 1862-1902. They were collected by Frederick and Margaret Haskell. Mr. Haskell was the owner of the Japan and China Trading Company. The couple retired to Lake Weir Florida in 1902, bringing these collected objects with them to the United States and they descended through the family to current day.
