Colt model 1862, 58 caliber percusion black powder
The Colt model 1862 is a 58 caliber percusion black powder musket with a 40 inch barrel similar to the Springfield musket. While this musket is similar to the Springfield musket, no parts are interchangeable, as the musket was redesigned and improved by Colt for quicker, easier manufacture. 96,500 were produced between 1862 and 1864 for federal troops use in the American Civil War. The barrel is stamped VP the stock is walnut.
This Colt 1862 Musket is a really nice survivor of the Civil War.
