Columbia Grafonola Upright Phonograph

A classic Columbia Grafonola upright floor-model phonograph, produced by the Columbia Graphophone Company and originally retailed by the Wade Talking Machine Co. in Chicago, Illinois. Constructed in a dark mahogany-finished wood cabinet featuring upper sound-modulating louvers, lower built-in record storage shelves, and decorative rosette appliques on the upper corners, this unit represents a staple of early 20th-century parlor sound equipment. The internal deck retains its original gold Columbia Grafonola decal under the lid, nickel-plated tone arm, speed regulator, needle wells, metal retailer plaque from Wade Talking Machine Co., and green velvet turntable mat. Physically, the front side and upper deck present very well with a clean, polished appearance; however, the exterior lower base exhibits notable veneer delamination, peeling, and chipping on the side and rear panels.
