Column + Capital (2) - Living stone - First half 18th century
A rare, one-of-a-kind lot including a stone column with its capital. Both column and capital are made of natural stone, entirely hand-carved between 1720 and 1750. The column is 170 cm tall, the diameter is about 40 cm and the weight over 400 kg. It is in good condition with small missing pieces that can be perfectly recomposed. The capital has a 60x60 cm base and is 32 cm tall; it weighs over 70 kg. This lot is available for on-site collection in Matera. It comes from an ancient Italian monastery of the early 18th century.
