Company School (19th Century), Ten Portrait Miniatures of Moghul Elite

India, watercolor, bodycolor and gilt on , depicting (8) various Shahs and (2) of Empress Mumtaz Mahal (1593-1631), each presented behind glass in gilt and copper locket frames.
Largest locket 2 in. (including bail);
Emperor with gilt robe depicted in profile is labeled to the verso, identified as Muhi al-Din Muhammad (c. 1618-1707), commonly known as "Aurangzeb," and was the sixth Mughal emperor, reigning from 1658 until his death in 1707 AD. Another Emperor with feathered turban is also labeled to the reverse, identified as Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent, and descendant of Timur and Genghis Khan, reigning from 1526-1530 AD.
