Set of Indian mica paintings, possibly Madras or environs, c.1850-80, 16 gouaches on mica (22 x 14.5 cm), laid into a contemporary stitched booklet of plain tissue-paper with pencilled captions (one caption reading 'Madras Water Beast'), and depicting trades and professions, village scenes, local costume, a nautch (captioned 'dancing girl'), snake charmers, catamarans on a rough sea, and a beach scene with a horse jumping from a rowing boat and a British gentlemen standing in the surf in yellow riding-jacket and top hat, a few chips and small areas of paint loss as usual
