Jul 30" (1862) cds with matching blue partial "Due" arc and "5" rate, manuscript "Pd 5", faint pencil censor markings "Ex" (CSA censor) and "Exam'd LAH" (US censor), some small cover flaws/faults, Fine, scarce usage, signed Wm. Bogg. Scott No. 6; Estimate $200 - 300. The original letter on file at Duke University is from a student in the School for the Deaf on David's Island, N.Y. Ironically, one year later there would be a Prison Hospital on David's Island.
