Constantin Terechkovitch (1902-1978) - Jeune femme au chapeau

A masterpiece by this Russian master (became a Frenchman in 1943) , whose work was exhibited worldwide, in all the famous art galleries. Various museums owning work by Terechkovitch. Nicely framed behind an acid-free mat and comes with mirrored glass (Artglass UV WW) . Signed and dated on the bottom left. Constantin Terechkovitch (1902-1978) Russian fine artist. He attended the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture in 1917, but had to flee when the Russian Revolution started. He decided to go to Paris, the capital of art, to study there. In Paris, Constantin lived in a Russian community in Montparnasse, where he met Mikhail Larionov. In 1921, art critic and author Serge Romoff helped him build his career, leading to a fair amount of success as an artist. Instead of returning to Russia after a visit to Berlin in 1923, Terechkovitch remained in Paris. He made sets and costumes for a ballet in Monte Carlo in 1933, where he met his wife. After the Second World War, Terechkovitch’s interests shifted more towards sports such as the Olympics and horse racing. In 1951, Terechkovitch was knighted in the Légion d'Honneur. Constantine mainly painted landscapes, villages, cities, dancers and other figures. His work is colourful and bright. Terechkovitch died in Monaco in 1978.
