"Ile de Clarens, Lake Geneva", circa 1906. Oil on canvas, unsigned, titled verso of canvas, in a gilded wood frame, overall 25" x 21 ¾". This painting depicts the Florentine style Villa Salagnon on the Swiss Isle de Clarens in the Dents de Medi. The villa was owned built in 1901by French Painter Theobald Chartran. After Chartran's death and several owners, the villa was purchased in 1930 by wealthy American Mary Wallace Shillito of Cincinnati, OH who died in Geneva, Switzerland in 1938.
Condition: Stretcher marks visible to front, otherwise very good condition.
