Copper diving helmet, early 20th century
A diving helmet made of hammered copper and bronze, manufactured in Europe and dating from the early 20th century. It features three fixed portholes and a front porthole that opens with a screw-on closure. The helmet retains its main original fittings, its exhaust valve, and its top cap. The assembled copper construction and the quality of workmanship are consistent with models used for professional underwater work in the early 20th century. The manufacturer could not be identified, as no markings or stamps are visible.
The helmet has a beautiful antique patina with signs of wear consistent with its intended use. One side window is cracked, while the front porthole is removable and functional. The interior is missing its original equipment (flap and attachment system to the breastplate).
Details: Height 33 cm – Weight 10.7 kg.
